Gavin's much publicised post Christmas detox seems to have stood him in good stead after absolutely wiping the floor with his Glasheen Village counter-puncher in this mornings FMC sponsored 4 mile road race in Little Island. Having spent the entire month of january on the dry, this weekend was mainly spent thinking about the race and administering botox on his dog just in case it comes up in the OSCE! To his credit The Blonde Bullet managed to maintain a steady pace clocking 6.5 minutes to the mile wearing a pair of white shorts that looked like they were about to fall off probably due to his intense preparation! On the other hand Thomas's competitive involvement lasted all of about 35 seconds before he drifted to the back of the pack and dangerously close to the ambulance that chaperoned the tail end of the field. Incidentally logistical expert Chris Browntopher Ryan was up early to form a human partition between the community centre roller-hockey entourage and the running brigade and he did an outstanding job! Afterwards tea, cake, biscuits, sweets and sandwiches were provided for the banterful runners in the post-race pavillion much to the excitement of Mr Nugent who regularly claims that he never gets full! Let's just say that the organisers will be watching out for him next year.
