| Nugent: The Running Wounded! |
With blood gushing from the right side of his chest, Gavin Nugent staggered over the finish line to become only the second 4th year dental student ever to complete a marathon in Cork City in 2012! It seems a rival group of relay runners may have attempted to botch the TG campaign by an attempted assassination on the charismatic Blarney man only to be humiliated by the triumphant defiance of Team Gavin at the finish. Murphy, who has in the past been likened to a sharpened bullet on a train, proved too quick for the sniper's attacks and dashed across the finish line after just 3 hours and 18 minutes! The more stride-wary Mr Nugent however was not so lucky and was ambushed by a blitz of bullets as he entered the Jack Lynch tunnel shortly before Orna 'Shots' Collins began her leg of the relay in Ringmahon. But Nugent battled on in heroic fashion in his familiar white Tim Henman vest before hurtling down Patrick's Street like a gasket and closing the book on TGs marathon campaign in a time of 3 hours and 48 minutes. The Gavsters were delighted to finally complete their long standing mission and would like to thank all those who supported their noble cause. It is not clear what's next for Team Gavin now that the ultimate goal has been reached but there have been worrying reports that it has all gone potato-salad for Gavin as he has been seen over doing the carb reloading in the CUH canteen this week!
